About
About GeoAI OptimizationMake AI-search visibility measurable, understandable and accountable
Who we are
GeoAI Optimization develops professional standards, certification, research, and technology for Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and AI search visibility. We publish the GeoAI Optimization GEO Standard, certify professionals and agencies against it, maintain a public verification registry, publish methodology and research, and offer GEO audits and consulting.
What GEO is
Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the practice of improving how organizations are discovered, represented, referenced, cited and recommended by AI-powered search and answer experiences. The "GEO" in our name means Generative Engine Optimization. GeoAI Optimization is not a geospatial AI organization. Read the full definition.
Why the organization was created
AI-powered search changes how organizations are found and described, and many offers in the market are unmeasured or overpromised. A published standard, an assessment that means something, and a registry anyone can check are the infrastructure a new discipline needs to earn trust.
What the Standard does
The GEO Standard defines ten assessment areas (the GEO-10 Framework), measurement requirements and ethical requirements. It is a proprietary professional framework developed by GeoAI Optimization; it is not an ISO, government or AI-provider standard. Read the Standard.
What certification means
That the holder met the Standard's published requirements when assessed, and that the credential is currently valid in the public registry. It does not certify rankings or any AI-system outcome. How certification works.
Who governs it
Certification and the Standard are run through defined roles. One person may hold several roles, but never two roles on the same case.
Standard Owner
Maintains the GEO Standard, runs public comment and publishes versions and the changelog.
Certification Reviewer
Confirms eligibility; verifies business documents, domains and references; reviews case studies and evidence; requests missing evidence. Does not decide.
Certification Assessor
Marks written assessment answers, records the evidence review and conducts agency interviews. Does not decide.
Certification Decision Authority
Records certification decisions (certified, not certified, more evidence required). The only role that can issue a credential, and the role that suspends, reinstates or revokes credentials.
Appeals Reviewer
A Decision Authority who was not involved in the original assessment or decision hears the appeal.
Certification Support
Answers applicants, records payments and triages reports. Cannot review evidence, decide, or issue credentials.
Complaints Handler
Receives and investigates complaints and badge-misuse reports about certified parties and about GeoAI Optimization.
Certification and consulting are separate
Buying consulting, training, audits, software or partnership services does not influence certification. Assessors do not decide, and trainers do not assess their own trainees. See certification independence and the Trust Center.
